The Hong Kong Connection
Welcome to Word Power. I provide structured, practical online English lessons live from the UK for Hong Kong students, professionals, and families.
Here are the direct facts about my 25 years of teaching experience in Hong Kong.
The History of Word Power (North Point)
- 2000 – 2003: I worked at the highly successful Word Power English Learning Centre in North Point.
- The Centre: Owned by the late Clive Burns. He employed native English speakers and kept class sizes strictly to 4 to 8 students.
- My Schedule: I taught kindergarten classes Monday to Friday mornings, and intensive primary school classes every Saturday.
- Online Launch: In September 2002, I launched wordpower.ws to give my HK students free grammar guides and word searches outside of class.
- Modern Rebrand: In July 2025, the entire 23-year-old resource library was modernized and moved permanently to wordpower.uk.
